🦐 The Ultimate Guide to the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival 2026

Mark your calendars for the 61st Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival! Held in the heart of historic Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, from April 30 – May 3, 2026, this beloved event transforms the waterfront into a vibrant celebration of the "Pink Gold" that built this coastal community.

πŸ“… 2026 Festival Schedule

  • Thursday, April 30 (6:00 PM): The Festival Parade officially kicks things off. This year’s theme, "Stars and Shrimps Forever," promises a patriotic flair through the historic district.

  • Friday, May 1 (3:00 PM – 10:00 PM): Waterfront food booths open! This is the best time to beat the Saturday crowds for dinner by the river.

  • Saturday, May 2 (9:00 AM – 7:00 PM): The full festival is in full swing, featuring the Fine Arts Show and live music stages.

  • Sunday, May 3 (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Don't miss the Blessing of the Fleet at 1:15 PM, a moving maritime tradition where local shrimp boats are decorated and blessed for the season.

βš“ Top Highlights & Traditions

1. Fresh Wild-Caught Florida Shrimp

Forget frozen imports—all shrimp served at the festival are wild-caught. Local non-profits operate the booths, serving everything from classic fried shrimp and gumbo to shrimp tacos and scampi.

2. Nationally Recognized Fine Arts

Voted one of the top shows in North America, the Fine Arts & Crafts Show features over 300 juried artists. You’ll find unique hand-blown glass, high-end photography, and coastal-inspired jewelry you won't see anywhere else.

3. Coastal History & "Eight Flags"

Fernandina Beach is the only place in the U.S. to have flown eight different national flags. The festival celebrates this rich history with pirate invasions, reenactments, and historical tours of the downtown district.

πŸ’‘ Insider Pro Tips for 2026

  • Skip the Traffic: Use the Park & Ride shuttle service from the outlying malls and schools. Parking downtown is nearly impossible during peak Saturday hours.

  • Cash is King: While major vendors accept cards, many of the smaller charity-run food booths move much faster if you have cash on hand.

  • Leave Pets at Home: Due to the large crowds and heat, pets are not allowed within the festival boundaries (service animals excluded).

  • Hydration Stations: Look for the designated "Water Zones" to refill reusable bottles, especially if the Florida sun is out in full force.

Whether you're here for the "Pink Gold," the art, or the pirate parades, the 2026 Shrimp Festival is where history truly meets the harbor. See you on the waterfront!
